| Abstract |
Recently, historical and cultural streets had been created in many old cities for making the city image with the historical values of cultural heritage. However, it tended to end up routinely improving the physical environment of the streets in many cases, because there usually lacked methodical studies of creating historical and cultural streets and omitted residents' interest and participation. Gangwhagun offers various tourism contents, utilizing historical and cultural resources, and improves the pedestrian environments for the convenience of the tourists. However, by extension, it is necessary to emphasize historical identities by reflecting the characteristic cultural properties of the streets. This study articulates three keynotes and plans of the ‘GANGWHA Old Palace Site Cultural·Special Street Project’. They are 1) making the network of historical and cultural resources; 2) specializing each section using the historical and cultural background; and 3) sympathizing with the residents and encouraging their participation The streets are both maintaining its main purpose and experiencing the historical and cultural environments. |
