Abstract This study aims to analyze the characteristics of spatial units to attain feasibility of a city to respond to climate change. According to the theoretical study, the characteristics of sustainable developments concerning climate change have the economic, social and environmental aspects. To cope with climate change, as considering sustainable developments, needs to consider spatial units, which are world-nation-city-neighborhood-building-individual respectively. Based on this research frame, it examined the UK Eco Town, which is actively coping with climate change. The UK Eco Town project aims to achieve sustainable developments with climate change under its contents. Especially, Whitehill Bordon, which is the sitender itstown, rls pursuing economic, social, environmental aspects with not only having one objective but also with being acted complexly in its relationship. Each spatial unit has its role and functions with a strong connectivity. In conclusion, ivels necessary to understand the complexity of the aspects of the sustainable development and the characteristics of spatial units as the planning & design elements for a city dealing with climate change.
