| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics of citizen education program as a part of the community design in Suwon city and to find their implications. This study, based on two cases, took the methods of participant observation and in-depth interview of Suwon city’s Community-Renaissance Academy Program(CRAP). As the results, the ‘CRAP’ showed following characteristics. First, the CRAP is the program to support the community design projects of Suwon city. Second, the CRAP is the program that linked the community planning to practical businesses. Third, such CRAP is a form that connects resident-driving community design with government-driving community design. Fourth, the CRAP is the program that provided opportunities for amateurs such as citizens. However, the community planning established through the CRAP measure needs further discussion. If a typological analysis on the community plans is conducted together in the future, it is expected to be a research case that can show a model of Suwon-type citizen education program. |
