| Abstract |
This study aims to suggest the implications for urban design in Korea from the urban design changes in Paris. The following three studies of Paris urban design were used to analyze the paradigm shift in Paris: sanitary, real estate and esthetics. The results are as the followings: First, unlike the 19th century Haussmann’s plan, the Paris urban design after the 20th century has been carried over step by step. Second, not only physical sites but also planning solutions have been constantly discussed and developed. Third, the city has been proposed with various ideas such as the major urban spatial structure based on the identity of Paris as well as the historic preservation and adaptation. Fourth, architects took on the leading role in urban design. These analyses are relevant findings that could be applied towards the urban design changes of the postindustrial Korea. |
