Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to promote non-motorized transportation by analyzing the factors that affect the vitality of green transportation, specifically from the view of urban spatial structures. According to the results of the spatial autocorrelation analysis, urban areas are classified as regions that are less active in using green transportation, whilst opposite results have been identified for non-urban areas. The spatial regression analysis reveals that, firstly, variables such as the Building Diversity Index has positive effects on the use of non-motorized green transportation, which means a reason to increase land use variety during civil planning step. Secondly, the number of subway stations, a public transportation-related variable, turned out to have negative impacts on non-motorized transportation. Thirdly, the number of urban planning facilities raises positive result on green transportation. Accordingly, the expansion of urban infrastructures and amenities promote the use of walking and cycling which require no motor. |
