| Abstract |
In developing countries, rapid urbanization is taking place recently, and it is ultimately causing climate change. Therefore the sound urbanization is important from the first phase of development in developing countries, so it is necessary of advanced countries's help. Thus, in this paper, I compared United States's assistance to Korea in 1960~80s which had contributed to the sound urbanization of Korea and Japan's to Indonesia in 1980~2000s which had not did it, and got an evaluation and implications for the direction of Korea's ODA. In its final analysis, through lessons of the foreign assistance program for Korea of USAID, this study suggested korea?s ODA directions for sound urbanization of developing countries. It is necessary to foster the independence of recipient country rather than generate revenue of donor country and its private company. In addition, systematic assistance which takes place from the preceding plan can help building industrial and urban ecosystem in recipient country. In particular, it is important to support self-fulfilling development even after the end of the donor country's assistance through prior education for local leaders, training for the talents and establishment of institutions. |
