| Abstract |
Having recognized a city as the main subject for solving the global problem, this study aims to define the concept of a comprehensive and common green city, by analyzing the goals and practical elements presented by international organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGO) which are the representatives of the international society. In summary, the latest worldwide issues are caused by the fact that economic-oriented development damaged environmental and social values which brought the economic imbalance. It leads to environmental issues such as climate change, ecological damage and resource depletion, as well as social and economic issues such as disease and poverty related to the basic survival. The major agenda of the international society to solve the problem include reduction and absorbtion of CO2 emission, water management, ecosystem conservation, waste management, protection from natural disaster and etc. Especially considering the uprising crisis of climate change, the reduction of CO2 emission and fossil energy consumption have been emphasized mostly. Therefore the concept of Green City? is referred to as the environmental, social and economic sustainable one, focused on reducing CO2 emission and fossil fuel consumption. |
