| Abstract |
This study focuses on two 'Historic·culture visiting road' areas of Seoul; Jeongdong-gil and Insadong-gil. The purpose of this study is to evaluate pedestrian environment of these areas via a survey of passersby using an assessment method called P.O.E(Post Occupancy Evaluation). The goal of this study is to determine ways to improve the pedestrian environment. Firstly, multiple regression analysis was conducted to determine which pedestrian environment factors affect overall user satisfaction. According to the result from the analysis, the factors in Jeondong-gil were the following; access to mass transportation, building use, open space, utility of historical architecture, and historic and culture monuments site. The factors in Insadong-gil were; building use, urban trees, safety from passing cars, flag banner, and public washroom. Secondly, IPA was conducted to determine the street environment improvement factors. According to the result from the analysis, the factors in Jeongdong-gil were; refuse receptacle, facilities for accessible people with disability, historic and culture monuments site, signage, illumination, a fountain etc. The factors in Insadong-gil were; building use, refuse receptacle, open space, utility of historical architecture, public washroom, urban trees, reproduction of old waterways, street-side plants etc. |
