| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial characteristics that affect subway area performances and public art exhibitions in urban public places. We used data from Seoul Metro subway stations that allow Seoul residents to utilization urban facilities day-to-day. As a result, we found that the existence of meeting places and nearby designated tourism districts had a positive relationship with subway area performances, and the existence of nearby underground shopping districts had a negative relationship with subway area performances. On the other hand, no spatial characteristics in our model had a significant relationship with subway area public art exhibitions, probably because of the small number of visitors to such exhibitions compared to performances. Additional survey results showed that temporary exhibitions were mostly held in transfer areas. |
