Abstract |
Children and elderly pedestrians in Korea are exposed to the high risk of being involved in traffic accidents. The present study aims to gain insight into safe neighborhood environment for children and older adults. Using Seoul pedestrian accident and GIS data, we investigate neighborhood environmental factors that can influence child and old pedestrian accidents. The spatial regression models find that neighborhood environmental factors, such as intersection density, road area ratio, bus stop density, and subway station density, affect child and olde pedestrian accident. The findings of the present study can contribute to safe neighborhood walking environment for child and old pedestrians. |
