To solve urban problems in Seoul, after the independence in 1945 there was a demand for urban planning in incorporated area. So, zoning and readjustment projects in the incorporated area were happened. The conclusions of the study are as follows: First, street system and function was planned based on historic street patterns, geographic features, and future land-uses. Second, blocks and lots were laid out considering light industry as a primary future land-use. Lastly, a mixed area was planned as mixed land-use was regarded as an element of the plan. The purpose of the mixed area are to promote mixed land-uses embracing the remaining town and planning facilities. As a result the Ttuk-do project made up for the weak points of the zoning, and its physical and land-use characteristics influenced Seong-su semi-industrial area zones today.
