Abstract |
This study considers the Gwanghuidong area in Jung-gu with high population of Russian-speaking, Central Asian and Mongolian migrants and residents. The presence and socialization of migrants in Korean society determine importance of study. The research includes social survey at the area, and in-depth interviews. Area condition satisfaction and possible avenues for improvement are analyzed with different variables considering Korean and Non-Korean residents. The research has found that length of stay at the area for the respondents is significant in their evaluation of area conditions satisfaction. Length of stay for Non-Korean respondents is used for analysing their answers on necessary facilities. The design suggestions include two approaches. First design idea considers two types of area improvement: one-unit complex building for new facilities, and the network of infrastructure with remodelling. The other one intends to improve convenience and availability for each resident. The study is significant as it derives design elements through survey and applies them into design solution. |
