Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to examine whether the diversity of housing types has an effect on native residents’ resettlement. To this end, it proposes a housing supply plan which has a diversity of dwelling scales and ownership. It then attempts to determine whether this diversity is able to raise the resettlement rate. The results of this study show that the resettlement rate of the new plan is higher than the existing plan. Owners who give up resettling because of housing expense and tenants who think existing public rental houses are too small show higher interest in the new plan. They also prefer small-sized owner-occupied housing and medium-size rental housing. Although this new plan cannot solve fundamental problems such as the high price of a new apartment or the inconveniences of the redevelopment process, through a diversity of dwelling scales and tenure options, it can help existing residents choose affordable housing. |
