Abstract |
Some provincial cities in Korea are faced with urban decline. The central governmenthas tried to revive the seat of old downtown office through various kinds of regeneration projects but they do not reflect the unique characteristics of each old downtown but they are focused on supplying hardwares of th projects. The purpose of this study is to draw a way to revive a town based on placeness of old downtown. This study aimed to regenerate Wolcheon old downtown and presented a strategy to revive it by analyzing and researching Wolcheon old downtown. The results to revive Wolcheon old downtown based on drawn placeness are as follows. First, it is recommended to create Wolcheon cultureal street with community center in order to improve communication among residents. Second,it is recommended to build Nangsudae Park which will be able to bring childhood memories to many residents’. Third, it is recommended to build activity center experience strawberry and apple farming which were produced in Wolcheon. This study is significant in that it attempted to seek a solution to revive Wolcheon old downtown that is losing original functions based on a sense of place. This study will be helpful to establish regeneration strategies for the local downtown. |
