Abstract The purpose of this research is to investigate the disproportionate characteristics of the public facilities supply such as daycare center, library, public sports complex and to propose an improvement plan of the facility capacity in Seoul Metropolitan Area. We categorized Seoul Metropolitan Area in accordance with 5 geological communities, 2 zones as residential / non-residential and 1st/2nd degree of distance from subway station. The results of the analysis indicated that the supply of the public facilities in the downtown area were generally good in all types of public facility and Dong-buk (North-East) community showed some lack of public facilities around the primary station area. Dong-nam (South-East) community was lacking in all types of public facility. Seo-nam (South-West) area was showing some shortage of public facilities around the major station area in residential area and Seo-buk (North-West) community was lacking in public facilities around the major station in the business area. Considering the different situation in supplying of public facilities in each community, it is recommended to secure the specific supply strategy of public facilities per community, associated to the development of urban transit centers to enhance the public service and make TOD space.
