Abstract |
The goal of this study is to analyze the effect of the Safe Village Pilot Project on crime safety. Wonseong 1-dong in Cheonan City was studied through surveys and interviews. The summary of the main research results is as follows. First, in terms of CPTED, the quality of the neighborhood environment increased after the project from 2.39 to 2.83, and fear of crime decreased from 2.87 to 2.47. Important elements that contributed to this were the installation of CCTVs and security lights, reinforcement of small alleys, and closing down of empty houses. Second, as a result of the analysis of the effects of changes in the neighborhood environment due to the Safe Village Pilot Project, changes in CPTED neighborhood environment elements were found to significantly decrease fear of crime in residents. Thus, the conclusion can be made that changes in the neighborhood environment, such as reinforced road maintenance to and from schools and small alleys, the installation of CCTVs and security lights, and the shutting down of empty houses, are effective for reducing fear of crime in local residents. |
