| Abstract |
Compared to the remarkable development of construction technology, urban design techniques and awareness of urban design are still insufficient. In order to develop international competitiveness, this paper focuses on the urban design process conducted for Boughezoul New City in Algeria. Looking at the result and step by step work of every project phases, includings ? contracting, basic design, general master planning, and plan execution ? it summarize the main issues and discussions. Comparing this course of action and Korea’s new town development planning system, three implications for urban design are suggested. First, there is a need for proper understanding and ability to perform urban design work. Second, there is a need for practical professional training for urban design. Third, there is a need for a variety of specialized research and data on overseas cities. |
