Abstract |
With the change of streetscape, pedestrians experience various images and physical environments. The purpose of this study is to derive factors of the physical environment affecting recognition of streetscape change. Thus, surveys and video analyses were used to derive physical factors influencing the recognition of streetscape change in Insa-dong. In addition, multiple regression analysis was performed on factors affecting the recognition of streetscape change in Insa-dong. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the wider an intersection and the longer the distance between an observer and the intersection, the more was the streetscape change recognized. Also, the shorter the length of a street, the shorter the distance between a major road and the intersection, and the shorter the street width, the more the streetscape change was recognized. The front area had a greater impact on the recognition of streetscape change than other areas. Finally, the increase in the portion of sky and building, or the decrease in street furniture, sign, and ground surface affected the recognition of streetscape change. While the existing research is an observer-centered analysis, this study is meaningful in that it analyzes the physical factors affecting the recognition of streetscape change in the walking space from the viewpoint of the actor. |
