Abstract |
Urban stream restoration can be an important means to improve daily living environments as well as historical and cultural values in urban areas. This study developed a route setup model for urban stream restoration in Seochon District in Seoul where urban design district has been refitted in recent years through the analysis on least-cost path method using a geographic information system (GIS). Stream path is selected in consideration of urban environments in Seochon District, and the factors that affected the selection of the path in stream restoration were derived as follows: terrain, land use, land value, historical and cultural resource, and land ownership status. Then, stream restoration paths were calculated according to the cost surface for each factor and the final restoration path was derived by applying weighted factors. This study contributed to the selection of optimal restoration path in consideration of realistic factors and restoration of stream that crosses Seochon, creating a cultural space where historical flows from Inwangsan to Cheonggyecheon are remembered. Furthermore, although a restoration to an original form in the past is the best option for restoration of historical and cultural sites, this study is significant that it proposed a methodology for reasonable restoration path setup to reflect the constraints when facing realistic limitations. |
