Abstract |
The rapid development of information technology is now manifesting as individual mobile systems enabling ubiquitous cellular access. New mediums, including SNS, appear to change the spatial pattern of social interaction. This change seems to be not only transforming social behavior but also possibly influencing the existing spatial pattern of the city. This study aims to analyze the relationship between users' preferences and the locations of dining places using Internet trend data and to discover the influences of new trend in information flow on conventional spatial patterns. Consequently, place choice trends under the influence of free individual media system showed the result of a more decentralized, dispersive pattern irrelevant to the location of existing centers, street hierarchies, and land use patterns. This change suggests that different location patterns are being formed and possibly changing the existing urban context. This trend, which is not compliant with the existing urban paradigm, must be examined and considered in developing a new approach to deal with emerging changes. |
