| Abstract |
This study examines how neighborhood environment and residents' physical activity are related to social capital. In particular, we focused on the mediating effect of physical activity between neighborhood environment and social capital. For the empirical analysis, we used the 2015 Korea Community Health Survey data and employed a path analysis. The empirical results show that neighborhood environment positively affects both residents' physical activity and social capital and residents' physical activity positively affects social capital as well. Also, residents' physical activity has a mediating effect between neighborhood environment and social capital. Based on the results, we suggest that the urban policy linking neighborhood environment with residents' physical activity can be more effective in promoting social capital. |
