Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting elementary school students' travel mode and route to school using survey and GPS data, and to derive planning directions and implications for creating a child-friendly neighborhood environment. The main results of the study are summarized as follows. First, the age, private educational institute attendance, residence type, car ownership, parents’ physical activity preference and children's physical activity preference influence the elementary school students' travel mode to school. Second, the safety of neighborhoods and distance to school influence the travel mode of elementary school students. Third, the average travel time to school was 12.78 minutes when walking, and the students preferred the streets adjacent to commercial facilities or the park in selecting the school route. |
