Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to comparatively study on Social Capital Characteristics in two representative shopping districts in Seoul, Namdaemun and Dongdaemun Market. For this study, social science survey was conducted in 2017 and the results are as follows. First, there were differences in the composition of the management organization, depending on the differences in land ownership characteristics, although they had similar historical formation backgrounds. Namdaemun Market was being commissioned by small landlords to participate in the holding committee. However, Dongdaemun Market’s were simple in land ownership and managed by a corporation. Second, Internal Norms, such as management of handling items and prevention of design replication, were working. Namdaemun Market was operated as an unofficial norm, while Dongdaemun Market’s shopping center had a formal code. Finally, both commercial districts were limited to the private property, so there was a limit to the overall management of the commercial districts. Therefore, for the revitalization of commercial area, it requires a public-private cooperation regional management system with written regulations. |
