| Abstract |
This study aims to identify the locational characteristics of Airbnb in Seoul by analysis on the distribution and density of Airbnb beds and the tourism behavior of foreign tourists. The GIS grid analysis and subway line accessibility analysis were applied with Dr. Tom Slee’s data and the Foreign Tourist Survey. Three findings are as follows. First, the high density areas were corresponded with popular tourist sites, such as Myeongdong, Dongdaemun Market, Gogung, Hongdae, Gangnam Station, and Itaewon. Second, the growing rate of Airbnb is high along the subway line six because the line has easy access to the airport subway line, Gyeonguiㆍ Jungang line, and also to the major tourist sites. Third, mapping a 30-minute walking range around subway stations of major tourist sites showed that the correlation between the growth rate of Airbnb and the subway stations with high accessibility to tourist attractions was not statistically significant. |
