Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to empirically analyze the impact of the residential environment characteristics of elementary school districts on Scholastic Achievement(S.A.). For this study, Nowon-gu, an excellent school district and large-scale housing development among the northeastern areas of Seoul, was selected. The S.A. data in 2011 was used and the multiple regression analysis models were utilized for the analysis based on dependent variables. Based on the three models examined, the analysis results are as follows. First, the ratio of Rental Housing in all models turned out to be a significant variable. Second, among all models, the correction R² of the Under Achievement Model was the most descriptive. Third, statistically significant variables in the basic model were Area(+), highway status(+), Apartment Building ratio(-), Average Housing Price(-), and Rental Housing Ratio(+). Therefore, the more rental housing, the more negative the impact on S.A. is. In addition, it can be inferred that the large area in terms of the characteristics of the residential environment had led to a social exclusion centered on old detached housing area with lower apartment buildings ratio. |
