Abstract |
Busan is ranked high in elderly pedestrian traffic accidents every year, so exceptional measures for elderly pedestrian safety is required. This study investigates the spatial suitability of elderly pedestrian accident hot-spots and the silver zones in Busan. This study found that the elderly pedestrian accident hot-spots were located in the old downtown and there was a lack of spatial compatibility with the silver zones. This study suggests policy-oriented and operational improvement plans for designating the silver zones. Besides that, this study recommends that the local government take the lead in designating silver zones and establish a legal basis for designating them. |
