Abstract |
As residents-led urban regeneration projects are promoted, community empowerment for collaborative governance has emerged as an important task. Focusing on empowering that is a progressive growth as cooperation-representation-influence, this study visualized the dynamic process of community organization by urban regeneration policies using social network analysis and suggested policy implications. The study analyzed community meetings and agendas from 2010 to 2019 in the urban regeneration areas of Changsin-dong and Sungin-dong. The following are the results. First, as education and financial support became available with the progress of residents’ capacity building projects, residents’ meetings and cooperation among people tended to increase. Second, the continuous implementation of urban regeneration projects in one region had a positive impact on the activists’ accumulation of the experience needed to grow into leaders of the organization. Third, through a resident-led project, the capacity of the community expanded and locally shared assets were founded through people employing their professional knowledge and discovering various human resources. In particular, the community media and the community regeneration corporation had continuously grown through sharing maeul-related activities and news. |
