| Abstract |
This study focused on the outdoor play area in the neighborhoods for preschool children during their daytime activity at daycare facilities and kindergartens. Throughout field examination and analysis, we found that 61% of the daycare facilities and kindergartens at study area in Eunpyoung-gu, do not have their own outdoor play areas, and children who attend the facilities need to use adjacent public parks or playgrounds as substitute. The environmental quality of these public parks and playgrounds need to be enhanced as well, especially for environmental hygiene and security issue at the border areas. The accessibility to these outdoor play area is relatively weak to bring children at daily basis. To improve usability of those places for preschool children in the neighborhoods, outdoor play area should be provided at places accessible easily with decent quality of space. |
