Abstract This study conducts bibliometric analysis to examine the trend of research methods of the published articles in the Journal of Urban Design Institute of Korea. The study aims to analyze the research method and data collection method using multiple response analysis. The results show that qualitative research has decreased over the past 10 years (2010-2019), whereas the quantitative research trends to increase gradually. The studies that analyze based on aggregated data or field-survey data account for half of the entire qualitative studies, while the other studies based on the analysis of literature, design, mapping as well as institutional and chronological analysis account for the other half. In the case of quantitative research, most of the studies use descriptive statistics and econometric models. It is important to note that diversification of empirical research methods in the studies published in the Journal of Urban Design Institute of Korea has been made in the last decade. In particular, various empirical analysis methods, including spatial analysis and text mining techniques, have been applied creatively to understand and solve specific problems in urban design related fields.
