Abstract |
Public buildings are physical spaces for the provision of public services, which can ensure sustainability only when the efficient use of limited resources is combined while converging the population characteristics of community. The number of public buildings are increasing despite difficulties in securing tax revenues due to the shrinking population in regional cities. Thus, this study critically investigated and analyzed the changes in the population structure of regional cities and the impact of the revenue budget on increase of public buildings area. The main findings of our study describes that more conservative strategy is required in areas where the elderly population ratio is high and the population shrinkage is intensified for the efficient use of limited local financial resources. For providing better public service, it is desirable to modify regulatory system so that population monitoring result is accounted for in the process of creating public buildings. |
