Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to closely examine analyze pedestrian environment influence factors of the socially vulnerable in the neighborhoods, and to analyze how different the influence factors of the pedestrian environment satisfaction among the socially vulnerable by life cycle stages. Above all, by the life cycle stages, the socially vulnerable were rdivided into three groups: children and elementary school students, infant caregivers, and elderly pedestrians. Then, a group-by-group user survey was conducted at the neighborhoods of the groups. ‘Walking for fun’, ‘walking convinience’, and ‘safety from crime’ were key influence factors of pedestrian environment satisfaction for group 1, 2, 3, respectively. The results suggested that the influence factors of pedestrian environment satisfaction varied among the groups of the socially vulnerable. There was a big difference between the supposedly important factors by the experts and the results evaluated by the socially vulnerable in the neighborhoods. Therefore, it is important to suggest improvement plans based on the empirical studies on the mobility of the socially vulnerable, and based on the previous researches, it is also necessary to consider which areas in the neighborhoods need to be improved first in accordance with the walking environment and network characteristics of the socially vulnerable groups. |
