Abstract |
This study analyzes the relationships between the urban regeneration project and residents’ perception of the heritage in Haenggung-dong, Suwon and aims to present the direction of the urban regeneration project and sustainable heritage protection measures by residents. Accordingly, this study conducts a theoretical review and questionnaire survey to examine the effectiveness of urban regeneration projects on the increase in the recognition of heritage value. To summarize the results of the survey and analysis, first, this study found that environmental regeneration and living environment regeneration affect the perception of heritage value among urban regeneration projects. However, economic regeneration does not have a significant effect on the perception of heritage value. Second, heritage value recognition plays a mediating role in influencing residents’ regulatory recognition and settlement awareness. Therefore, the recognition of heritage value must be improved first for, sustainable heritage protection through residents. In addition, the recognition of heritage value is affected by environmental regeneration and living environment regeneration. In other words, in order for local residents to recognize heritage as an object of enjoyment, not an obstacle to local development, environmental regeneration and living environment regeneration areas must be actively carried out in urban regeneration projects, thereby improving residents’ perception of heritage value. |
