Abstract |
This study is intended to conduct exploratory research to find out the effects of public space improvement projects on the revitalization of commercial areas in urban areas. As a single case study, ‘Yonsei-ro, Myeongmul-gil, Sinchonnyeok-ro, Ewhayeodae-gil’ located in Sinchon-dong, Seoul were selected as existing cases. In this study, 18 physical environmental factors and 5 characteristics (comfort, openness, aesthetics, convenience, and accessibility) of public space were derived through literature review, field survey, expert interview, and factor analysis. And sales and pedestrian volume were derived as factors to measure the revitalization of commercial district. Also, ‘analysis of measured data’ through Kruskal-Wallis H test and ‘analysis of user's satisfaction’ using the ANOVA method were conducted to analyze ‘the differences in the physical environment of public space and commercial district revitalization by street’. This study unpacks that there is a significant difference in the public places and revitalization of commercial areas by street. These results are expected to contribute to the provision of public space improvement projects |
