Abstract This study aims to understand walkability theoretically and analyze the walkability effect on differences in urban environment focusing on the Wienerberg area in Vienna that has been developing for urban mobility and citizen’s quality of life. The criteria of analysis came from the advanced research results, and the literature review was conducted regarding STEP 2025 and Wienerberg area. The target area was divided into four different zones by differences of urban environment, and the evaluation proceeded through the criteria of analysis. The evaluation results for each district’s walkability were charted visually with additional future development directions. Finally, this research proposes the perspectives on walkability, detailed subjects and walkability effects on differences in urban environment in terms of urban design. The results of this study can be a theoretical background referenced in the development process for improving walkability including Seoul and major cities which aims a walkable city.
