Abstract This study was aimed at analyzing the maintenance plans for the residential environment improvement projects in the low-rise residential areas of Seoul. The analysis can be summed up as follows; first, in the public sector, the maintenance plans were similar regardless of their differences of urban context. In case of the civil sector, the maintenance plans tended to feature differentiated outside spaces, maintenance and improvement subsidies, regulation of the rental houses and conditions of finance loan. Secondly, the ratio of the project implementations was 89.8% on average in the public sector, while being lower in the civil sector. The suggestions from the analysis are as follows; it is required to operate the maintenance plans discriminately between public and civil sectors, also necessary to supplement the support system for the maintenance plans of civil sector. Secondly, it is essential to construct a project management system and monitoring system allowing for a sustainable post-construction operation.
