Abstract Since the mid-2000s, studies on factors influencing resident participation have continued to evolve in terms of academic range, concept concreteness, and research target. In particular, the importance of psychological factors has been emphasized, while studied as defined as independent concepts, despite the organic relationship between the concepts of psychological factors. To analyze the organic relationship between factors influencing resident participation, the study produce the minimum unit meaning that constitutes the concept in the 34 prior studies, and analyzed the connections between unit meanings. First, the study found 210 meanings, 530 connections, and 87.1% of the meanings are composed of complicated networks. This suggests that the psychological factors that affect resident participation exist dependently with each other and exist as organic connections. Second, the high importance of a node does not mean that it is directly connected to a node related to resident participation. Rather, there is a ‘link’ that mediates nodes with high importance and nodes related to resident participation. The link is usually made up of nodes related to ‘behavior’ rather than ‘psychological state’.
