Abstract |
This study verifies the effects of the water circulation urban planning utilizing the urban green network system as a green infrastructure by comparing with the existing plan with the new alternative plan following the Geodesign Framework. The alternative plan for Songsan Greencity is proposed in three levels: land use, green infrastructure and park planning. According to the SWAT model analysis, the stormwater runoff is reduced noticeably in the alternative plan. Underground water runoff is reduced the most as 30.9% among other runoff indicators. The capabilities of water retention and absorption increases by 2.2%, and evaporation capability increases by 27.6%. The control effect of non-point pollution sources improves significantly. The plant absorption of N and S increases by 11.4% and 9.5%, respectively. The removal capability of N and S increases by 13% and 19%, respectively. These positive effects are resulted from the increase of the amount of green areas and improvement of green network quality to hold and absorb water in the alternative plan. In addition, the preservation of existing wetlands and forests with adding green buffers at the lake edge can contribute to improving the overall water quality of the city. This study has important significance in suggesting a new framework in the water circulation urban planning integrating the research methodology and the design process through Geodesign framework. |
