Abstract |
This study examines the change in the functions and roles of urban parks, Gyeongui Line Forest Park, before and after the COVID-19 outbreak in Korea. We conducted a series of data-based research including, text mining, time series, TF-IDF, and network analysis on 90,070 blog posts on the park from 2018 to 2022. The analysis results showed that first, a commercial connection seems important because visitors have a high interest in food culture. Second, visual elements of the park are considered essential as photos and videos have been actively used for social media since COVID-19. Third, recreational and leisure activities, such as taking a walk and exercising, should be emphasized because of the higher frequency of people using outdoor spaces for social distancing due to COVID-19. Fourth, residents’ accessibility to parks is critical, given the increasing demand for neighborhood parks during the pandemic. Based on the analysis, the concept of neighborhood parks is the most important factor for urban park planning in the post-COVID-19 era. |
