Abstract |
This study aims to diagnose the legal system in managing the “Historic-CulturalEnvironment” and to suggest the direction for improving the legal system. Throughliterature reviews, ‘Area character’, ‘Managing change’, and ‘Sustainability’, arederived as the main issues for sustainable management. These are linked to the‘Investigation System’, ‘Conservation and Management System’, and ‘ResidentParticipation System’. The current legal system in ‘architecture and urban’, ‘culturalheritage, ‘tourism and others’ fields were also analyzed. The implications from theanalysis are as follows; Investigation of the historical and cultural environmentneeds to be conducted for the entire district, not limited to individual objects, followed by regular surveys. The conservation and management system consideringthe physical, social, and economic aspects of the relevant district should beestablished by providing implementation regulations and support systems. Lastly, since residents are important decision-making agents, it is necessary to introduce theparticipatory planning system and resident support programs. |
