Abstract |
This study aims to provide policy implications through the analysis of the present status of Alley-associated Housing Repair Pilot Projects with the goal of enhancing the living environment of residents of older homes where collective maintenance projects are challenging. Distinguishing itself form the Housing Repair Project within the existing Urban Regeneration New Deal initiatives, this approach not only enhances the townscape but also generates substantical positive effects on the neighboring area. However, it did not spread due to the complexity of the resident consent procedure, administrative protocols, and support projects primarily centered around exterior enhancements. Therefore, this study analyzed step-by-step progression of the project in Namsanseonbi Village, Yeongju, a selected pilot site for housing repair. As a result of this analysis, the study suggests the following policy improvement issues. Firstly, there is a needs to establish a standard that allows for support for illegal extensions to homes for livability. Secondly, in terms of residential regeneration, it is necessary to improve not only the appearance of individual houses but also the physical environment around them. Thirdly, support for energy efficiency improvements should be considered depending on the condition of the house. |
