Abstract Cattle were one of the a major exploitation items during Japanese imperialera. To collect cattle from Korea, the Japanese goverment established an export cattle quarantine station in Uam-dong, Busan in 1909, and a rinderpest antiserum manufactory was built in Amnam-dong, Busan in 1911 to prepare for the rinderpest epidemic that was prevalent at the time. The rinderpest antiserum manufactory, the subject of this study, has been performing bovine vaccine development research and quarantine functions for 107 years, and has been left as an idle space after relocating to Jisa-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan in 2018. Currently, the rinderpest serum manufacturing site is scheduled to be developed into a seafood cluster business site with the goal of 2025. This study defines the rinderpest antiserum manufactory as an urban heritage at high risk of disappearing. The purpose of this study is to examine the past transition process of the rinderpest antiserum manufactory and to extract assets that have the potential to be conserved as memories and traces. As a result, seven archiving stories were extracted, and based on these findings, intangible assets and tangible assets such as buildings, old trees, facilities, structures, and places were extracted as conservation assets of rinderpest antiserum manufactory. The research results can be used as basic data for conserving historical traces and memories during future site development.
