Abstract |
Recently, there has been continuous discussion about urban policies and overcoming urban decay problems that occurred during the period of rapid economic growth for national development. This study analyzes the case of San Francisco GBD, an organization citizens who benefit from public space to practice social responsibility to create social value while improving the physical environment of public space in the city and suggests implications for sustainable maintenance, and management of public space and local community revitalization in Korea. The GBD is meaningful in that it creates social value and benefits through the improvement, maintenance and management of public spaces through taxes paid by property owners and donations for problem-solving and local development in the area where they live. Local communities need to participate in solving problems to maintain a sustainable community and work together with the government in a horizontal structure to find solutions to improve problems. |
