Abstract |
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) requires sufficient vertiports, and the combination of parking building and vertiport is well-known as a method for establishing vertiports. In this context, the purpose of this study is to propose planning directions for introducing vertiports into parking building sites in new cities. We analyzed the current status of parking building sites in selected second-phase new cities and Multi-functional Administrative Cities. Through literature review and case studies, we developed planning directions and derived implications. The summarized findings are as follows: In large parking building sites, one Final Approach and Takeoff area(FATO) and two UAM parking lots can be built. In medium-sized parking building sites, vertiport with only one FATO can be built. To establish a vertiport with both FATO and UAM parking lots in medium-sized parking building sites, a plan utilizing the upper part of adjacent roads or neighboring sites is necessary, requiring institutional improvements. To elevate vertiports above nearby buildings, the parking buildings need high-rise construction, which demands a higher floor area ratio, more floors, and expanded permitted uses. Securing vertiport entry and exit surfaces requires comprehensive management of nearby buildings’ height and layout. |
