Abstract This study studied the background of the settlement and the perspective of the migration phenomenon in Daelim-dong, known as the region where Korean-Chinese are the most concentrated among multicultural areas. To this end, Korean-Chinese and activists living or working in Daelim-dong were interviewed in-depth, and constant comparison method was performed on the constructed interview data. Daelim-dong's familiarity with China and trying to help each other through various networks are attractive to Korean-Chinese who visit Korea for the first time. However, in recent years, it has been found that Daelim-dong is no longer a good place to live in, as income has decreased since “COVID-19” and living prices continue to rise. As a result, it was also found that they could no longer live in Daelim-dong and moved to Ansan, Bucheon, Sosa, and Incheon, where more rent was cheaper or relatively stable work was concentrated. Based on these facts, this study even suggested policy implications for various urban and social issues that may occur in multicultural areas.
