| Abstract |
This study examines how the expansion of remote work after the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the rise of digital nomads and generated new spatial demands integrating living and working environments. Based on transition motives and socio-demographic characteristics, preferences for co-living and workation spaces were analyzed through in-depth interviews with 25 digital nomads in Korea using qualitative content analysis. The findings identify three spatial preference types: 1) urban-based long-term co-living emphasizing community networks, 2) nature-oriented long-term stays pursuing wellness and work efficiency, and 3) short-term workation preferences enhancing creativity and productivity. The study highlights the need for typology-based spatial strategies and reinterprets co-living?workation spaces as an integrated urban spatial model combining permanence and mobility, providing implications for urban spatial planning and policy in the digital transition era. |
