Abstract In this study, based on the models used in the current domestic and Japan for estimating required supply reserve power, a method of appropriate supply reserve power considering renewable energy has proposed. The method of estimating the total supply reserve power by adding the factor of increasing supply reserve to the operating reserve has proposed. The proposed method has considered demand-side volatility and supply-side volatility as factors for increasing supply reserve power. The results of case studies prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.
