| Abstract |
This paper presents a performance evaluation of a Permanent Magnet Vernier Motor (PMVM) as a candidate for enhancing the output density of Direct-Drive In-Wheel Motors, compared to a conventional Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The torque and power factor characteristics are systematically analyzed by examining their correlations with the magnetic gearing effect and key design parameters, such as the winding factor, axial length, and rotor pole pair number. Through comparative analysis of motor models, the influence of each parameter on the electromagnetic characteristics is clarified. Based on these results, the optimal model with respect to torque density and power factor is identified. |
