Abstract This study is to develop a cloud-based multi-port electric vehicle charging system in which a server collects charging information from each charger and controls charging in the cloud environment when multiple chargers are connected and operated in one power grid. In this paper, the proposed system is divided into four parts: the hardware and software part of the electric vehicle charger based on IoT technology, the real-time power-control technology realization software of the server, and the charger monitoring system software. To the proposed method's performance, a prototype of the proposed system was implemented and manufactured and tested in an actual charging environment to verify its performance. The proposed method in this paper is expected to contribute to the expansion of electric vehicles' charging infrastructure in a way that improves the installation cost, efficiency and economics of parking area use, and user convenience than the existing system.
