Abstract |
Studies related to membrane technology have been attracting attention because of low cost, eco-friendliness, and compactness. This paper describes the potential use of hydrophobic membranes in semi-direct evaporative cooling applications for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with the air sweeping membrane evaporation method and vacuum membrane evaporation method. The vacuum membrane evaporation methods with desiccant and without desiccant were conducted to assess the impact of the desiccant. The evaporation rate and the cooling rate of each method increased with the higher air volume flow rate and the higher vacuum pressure difference. In this study, experimental comparison of cooling methods was conducted respectively. Test results from this study will be used for design of membrane evaporative cooling system. |
