Abstract |
Adsorption refrigeration technology has an advantage of providing efficient cooling with the heat supplied from the community energy supply system including the feed water of the district heating system, industrial waste heat, and others. In this study, the adsorption chiller was developed using the flat-tube type heat exchanger coated with SAP (super absorbent polymer) to enhance heat and mass transfer performance during the adsorption and desorption processes. System performance such as SCP (mass specific cooling power) and COP were measured according to the cycle period and various secondary fluid temperatures. It was found that the developed chiller has SCP of 0.38 to 0.44 kW/kg and COP of 0.29 to 0.52 in the range of 14-70 minutes of the cycle period. As the temperature of the cooling water supplied to the condenser increases, the SCP and COP lowered because of the decrease in the refrigerant desorption. As the temperature of cooling water for adsorber increased, the SCP tended to lower by the decrease in adsorption capacity, but the COP decreased slightly because the heating capacity also decreased. |
